I’m thinking about ordering some of these. However, I recall using these many years ago and it seems like they were taken off the market because they weakened the nails. It would seem like they would strengthen them?

First off, my names Lyn I’m 53 and I had Cervical Fusion of C5-C7 14 months ago.
Well, the pain never exactly went away after surgery. At only 6 weeks a lady smashed into me running me off the road causing whiplash to my neck. Although the pins and plates never shifted it caused me more discomfort afterwards and I never recovered any furthur…
So here I am 14 months later and I went for a Myleogram yesterday to see if I needed furthur surgery possibly on C4…
I heard from the doctor today and he said that C6/C7 never fused!!! What does this mean!?!? Shouldn’t he have checked to see if things were fused sooner?? Will not having a non-fused vertabrae cause pain/pain to not get better?
So now he wants to go back in and put a cage at C6/C7 with metal instead of donor bone! Also he wants to take the plate off of C5/C6! Will this take away my neck and shoulder pain??? Is there a chance that the whiplash caused me not to heal properly? I’m sooo confused!
Help Lyn

I have been diagnosed with a Cervical Myelopathy. This apparently is caused by minimal posterior bulging at C3/4, and C4/5, a moderate right lateral extruded disc, causing moderate right lateral cord compression and severe right root impingement, at C5/6. Mild degenerative disc narrowing, and posterior osteophyte formation, and mild thecal sac compression at C6/7. My symptoms seem to baffle the Dr’s ( I’ve seen 4 NSs, so far ) My symptoms are;. Muscle twitches (they called them "fasciculations").left side weakness/awkwardness, (diminished dexterity in lefthand), poor balance, stiff gait..cannot run at all, hyperreflexia, and hightened "startle response"–the slightest unexpected noise can make me jump….I have no pain. 3 of the NS’s said surgery is necessary, the 4th ordered a CT scan of c-spine to check the bone spurs…will comment on possible surgery after test results are in… I’m sure I’ll need surgery, the problem is, what type ??..I’m leaning toward artifical disc ( one NS said I was a fine candidate for this )…But my main question to you is, do these symptoms/diagnosis make sense to you ?? I would appreciate your thoughts. Doug

Recently, my wife of 23 years told me that getting away from me for one week would be beneficial to her. I agree. My wife is remarkable. She does not complain. She just does her thing and she deals with my mood swings superbly.
Now, we are NOT talking about a legal separation, and we are NOT talking about a divorce. I know I am hard to live with at times, and she just needs a break.
I hope I can ask the following questions:
Has your spouse ever needed to “get away”?
If so, did he/she actually "get away"?
If so, did it help her/him?

At the end of this month I am going to a "hippie" style concert, and I don’t know if things are the same as where you live, but you basically get stripped searched before you go in (last year my boyfriend had to throw out his key ring?! Why I don’t know but they wouldn’t let him take it in)
I don’t know if any of you have had had a problem taking your meds into events or not. My neuro said that I would be Ok if I have them in a pill case, but I take four different meds and I don’t want to be haulling in for different pill cases. Plus I don’t want them to think that I am trying to sneak in who knows what kind of pills just to get high during the show.
My neuro also said that if I had my medic alert bracelet on I should be ok, but I don’t want to take any chances. I was planning on getting one of those little pill cases that you can buy at the drug store to keep them in, but I don’t want to chance it and not beable to take them.
If anyone has any suggestions or has had to deal with this and could let me know what to do I’d appericate it!
Thanks!

My cousin called me tonight and she has got a 28 year old daughter that is in the CCU in the Hospital. It started out that she was feeling bad and she went to the ER and they told her she had a bad infection and they thought she had a blood clot on her kidney. Well she went back to the ER this past Tuesday because she was so ill and they carried her by ambulance to the Hospital and they done all kinds of test on her and this is what they found. I will explain the best that I can because my cousin was so shook up and crying when she called me tonight.
They said that the two main valves that goes to your heart, that one pumps the blood in and the other one pumps the blood out. They said the one that pumps the blood out is not connected on to anything. They have got her scheduled for open heart surgery today at noon and they said that they realy wouldn’t know what they will do or have to do until they get it there. They did mention something mechanical they could use or use a pig valve. Have anybody ever heard of this and what would cause this. Could this be something that she was born with thats just now hit her? She just had a baby 2 months ago and she has been ill ever since she had the baby.
If anybody could help me to understand this I would greatly appreciate it!
Would you please say a prayer for her. Her name is Brandy Wright.
Thanks a lot,
Jan

Approximately 3 years ago I was extremely fit. I was lifting weight, attending martial arts classes and jogging several miles a day at least 4 days week and eating a attractive clean. One day in martial arts class, I felt a shortness of breath for several minutes with no other symptoms. I immediately stopped my workout and went home. I thought I may have just been over doing it so I took a week off. The following week I attempted to start my routine again. I woke up and started running. I immediately felt the shortness of breath again, I got very nervous and my heart rate elevated very high. I stopped jogging and went back to bed. The next day I went to see my doctor. He gave be a blood test, xrays, EKG, Eco and a stress test. Results came back and nothing was found. Well, my life soon changed. I stopped lifting weights and martial arts. I just did calisthenics and very light jogging. I did this for about the last 2 years. About 3 months ago, I was jogging and I felt chest discomfort. I immediately went to the emergency room. They ran all sorts of test and found nothing. I went to my primary care doctor and had blood test, xrays, EKG, a nuclear stress test, and wore a 24 halter monitor. The only thing they told my when the results came back is, I have an early heart beat. I am going for an Eco this week to check my valves and have a lung test. I need help, if they find nothing. What should I do? Here are my current symptoms:
Unable to jog without having some sort of chest discomfort, including walking up a flight of stairs.
Sensitive to heat when outdoors. I was never like this before. I use to run on the beach in the afternoons all the time with no problems.
Occasional light headedness.
When having lengthy conversations, I feel out of breath and feel pressure on my chest.
After I eat and try say walking around the mall, I find it very hard and tiresome.
I am a 35 year old male with no other known medical problems. I am not taking any medications. Now anything that I feel like a stomachache, headache nausea brings on what I think are anxiety or panic attacks. I drink some cold water, I relax and I will eventually feel better when this happens. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,

For the past week I have been waking up with a crampy stomachache. It feels like my stomach is in knots. When I got up and walked around, the stomachache went away. This morning, though, was a little different. The stomach cramps went away, but now I have indigestion symptoms (slight pressure in the sternum area). It feels like I have gas caught in my stomach.
Any ideas?

I was diagnosed with gerd 2 yrs ago along with a hital hernia, migrain syndrom and itteratal bowel syndrom.
now I’m not in denile or anything her but the stuff they call reflux desiease doesn’t seem to fit me it don’t feel like heart burn more like a heart attack I sometimes do have heart burn but I mostly feel a lump in my throat 24-7, I had a endoscopy done and a stricture opened and the lump or bolder as I call it went away for 2 days. I have been on every drug known to man for gerd from pepcid ac down to nexium and nothen seems to stop this.I have maybe 14 days out of the yr I feel good and the 14 are never together. I have changed all my eatting habits, no more coffee or cokes waaaaa for over 2 yrs now at first I couldn’t eat anything lived off gatorade and mashed patatoes for 2 months.I lost 60 lbs during this time, 2yrs later I have gained it all back Nexium seems to have helped some but that bolder never goes away and now everytime I swallow it feels like a rock rolling all the way down my esophus and back up.
I was wondering if any on else feels this rolling feeling ? I do feel hungry at times but my stomach never seems to growl anymore no matter how long I wait to eat
And another ? maybe it is just all the things I have wrong with me put together but it seems to be worse in winter, and when it rains and if I am overly stressed does it seem that way to anyone else.
ALso I have episodes that seem to act like the go through stages it starts off my stomach starts hurting then diarrah then within 30 mintues I will be throwing up, then all the sudden my muscles in my body go to shaking uncontrolable the doctor say that is the migrain syndrom but I won’t have a headache like people say.
It’s so Hard for me to tell which syndrom is kicking in cause they are connected to my stomach problem somehow.
Maybe someone can tell me what’s what with them cause it took 4 doctor’s and 6 months for them to tell what was wrong with me.
Sorry this is so long and thanks
